With the winter weather and cool temps, you might see pests in and around your home. Mice will try to find indoor shelter in your garage or home to escape the cold.
Mice do not hibernate during the winter. Homes provide shelter, warmth, and a source of food to survive the winter. You may think your home is impervious to mice, but they make their bodies extremely small, so they fit in tight spaces. The most common ways mice get into homes are through cracks in the foundation, walls, or through the attic. Many people are astonished that mice were able to enter a home, but it is more common than you think.
Signs that you may have one or more mice in your house:
- Mouse droppings
- Scratching noises behind a wall, in an attic, in duct work, or drop ceilings
- Strong unusual smells
- Small nests
- And they are brave – you may see one scurry across the floor
